Ivan started his fundraising nine years ago after his newborn son Sebastian had life-saving surgery at the Children’s Heart Unit, at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital.

Lynne and Cheryl set up their Community Corner charity four years ago, which sells donated goods to raise money for worthy causes in South Tyneside. They have been dubbed “angels in the community” as they dedicate their days to making people’s lives better.

Robyn was just ten years old when she tackled a serial robber as he raided her family home.


Since Stephen’s death, his mum Jane has kept his legacy alive, taking on a range of tough challenges, including running the Virgin Money London Marathon and jumping out of a plane for the record-breaking Skydive for Stephen.

Mikey Akers was diagnosed with verbal dyspraxia, a rare neurological speech disorder, when he was two.
